IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM DR. GAMPER

Dear Parent/Guardian:

As we begin the 2013-2014 school year, I want to remind the community that school safety and security are still paramount.  The Park Ridge Police Department has advised me that they will continue to conduct enhanced patrols at all of our schools, including police officer walk-throughs during the school day.  Also, as a precautionary measure, a significant police presence will continue to be noticeable during the morning drop-off and at dismissal.

I would like to thank Chief Madden for his ongoing support and communication.  We continue to speak regularly about student safety.

Dr. Gamper
Superintendent

Park Ridge High School Ranked #14 In NJ (Ranked #3 in Bergen County)

Park Ridge High School has been recognized as one of the Top 15 public high schools in the state by New Jersey Monthly.

Park Ridge High School finished at number 14 in the magazine’s 2012 ranking of 328 public high schools.

A list of the Top 100 public high schools appears in the September issue of New Jersey Monthly; a complete list of all 328 rated schools is online at

www.njmonthly.com.

New Jersey Monthly publishes its list of the best high schools in New Jersey every other year. The rankings are compiled by Leflein Associates, an independent research company in Ringwood, New Jersey, and are based on data reported by the schools to the New Jersey Department of Education. Among the factors taken into consideration are average class size; student/teacher ratio; student results on the SAT, HSPA and AP tests; and graduation rates.

In order to better reflect the actual effectiveness of each school, this year’s list gives additional weight to student results. “This change in methodology is particularly relevant at a time when most districts have had to reexamine spending priorities,” explains New Jersey Monthly editor Ken Schlager.

The September issue of New Jersey Monthly includes articles on key education-related issues, including the pilot program for teacher evaluation and the war over homework in the Garden State. There’s also an interview with Chris Cerf, the state’s education commissioner.

New Jersey Monthly is the state’s top general-interest magazine.
